Jolly Tiger

Hello everyone
I have a year old Jolly Tiger that is not variegated. Will it become variegated as the plant matures?
Vito

Sometimes they revert and when they do you have to be on top of them.

Also,
There was someone selling (questionable ones) on ebay last year. I hope you are not one of the victims.

Hi Rafed.

I got my plant from a trusted Forum member that I respect so luckily I'm not an Ebay victim. Just wondering about the variegation.
Vito

Ok then, Vito

Yours might have reverted at some point in time then.

It is said, that when the first sign from it reverting you are supposed to cut it off.
Picture a branch that is roughly two or three feet long with the leaves displaying the variegated colors. At any point of that said branch the bud tip or a side branch froms on that branch appears to be reverted you are supposed to cut it off. This practice allows you to continue with the variegated form.

I think I have a branch or two on my tree that are reverted I will show you an example as to where to cut it.

Keep me informed please. I am curious about it. And if all fails I will help you with a couple cuttings in the fall. I will be able to spare a couple.

Thank you Rafed, I will do that.

Vito , I believe that every 4th or 5th leaf should have some signs of varigation, if it doesn't then you should remove them and hope for the best. I think once it goes completely to all solid green leaves then it'll stay that way. I recently did an airlayer on one of my tigers and had one shoot come out all green compared to the main shoot that is highly variegated and I just removed the whole green branch. It may be too late for yours., I think that's why they were advertised very clearly that those jolly tigers on ebay were NON variegated.

I'll stand corrected, now I remember that.

Thank you

Thank you Scott.

Here you go, Vito.

Pictured below is a full branch that is reverted. I will cut it all off at the base.

Vito, it's likely that your start is gonna stay green, I have layers started on my tree, I'll send you a variegated start when they're ready. I believe the one you have came from me?

Barry thank you so much.
Vito
