Jolly TIger vs. Panache fig?

I'm pretty sure my Jolly Tiger isn't going to make it.  :-(

The panache I got from Jon, by contrast, is thriving like a boss!

Octopuslnc can you explain what went wrong in how it died.

Essentially it died because I'm impatient.

I had cut my 1 JT cutting into 3 2-node segments and put them into soil cups with humidity domes under cfl lamps.  Of those 3 segments one went soft and died flat out, one has shown no growth but also no dying signs, and the third one had some leaves.  For whatever reason I thought it would be a good idea to tug on the one with leaves to see how strong it's roots were (stupid).  That was last night.  This morning I checked on it and all the leaves had gone limp and withered.

sorry to hear of your not so jolly experience. note to self  " dont pull on plant". just chalk it up to experience.thanks for the info.

Yep.  I put a note in my journal, "please learn your lesson!" lol

Martin,

Is there anything different fertilizing a Jolly Tiger ( less/more ) than other fig trees?

Greg, That was an expensive lesson. First mistake in my mind was cutting the pieces.  JT can be a stubborn rooter and the pieces you had were a decent size to ensure rooting.

Indeed, Barry.  Well I only cut one--remember I split the two I got from you with another member.  :-)

Not all hope is necessarily lost.  But it does look dismal.

None at all all our fig trees get the same treatment and it grows very well in our yard.
