Jon's Dark Greek

Good day, here is another fine green fig I piked today.  It's called Dark Greek.  I produced this fig from a cutting 3 years ago.  Last year was the first year it fruited for me but the coons got them before I could.  Well not this year!  This fig taste amazingly sweet and could have stayed on a few more days but I could not wait.  Sorry Martin.....lately I've been picking some amazing green figs.  Waiting on Verte later on this week.

Dennis,

Nice fig!

You really should wait for your Vertes to be very ripe for maximum flavor. Ripe is still pretty good, but very ripe is best. When they look wrinkled. Enjoy!

Ok.  I will.  Every night, I tote 2 of my container Vertes inside.  I got a few figs getting ripe and I don't want to loose them.  I'll post pics when they ripen.

Hi Dennis this one look good for sure but i think this is Green Greek not Dark Greek.

Eden, I have to disagree with you here.  :)  I have several Green Greek figs, one in my orchard.  This fig came from a cutting I got from Jon years ago.  My Green Greek does not fruit until later this Fall.  But this dude is fruiting now.  Here is a pic of my green greek figs.

Hi Dennis. Do not get me wrong I'm just talking about color of the fig, i see now Dark Greek is mach darker then Green Greek. Sometimes name can confused me I thought it should be dark black color fig LoL. But for sure they both look beautiful  especially Green Greek to me i like interior color of it. Can you post pic of whole tree please.

Dennis im making a mental note on the color of that fig called Dark Greek.   ; )

Will do Eden.

Hey Martin, I don't make these names.  But sometimes Jon change the names like Chico Strawberry and Saratoga or UCR 143-36 and Emerald Strawberry.  I found a fig in my area and I plan on calling it DJ's Pleasant Groove. Hehehe

Dennis i kinda figured that as Jons from California and on shaky ground as it is.  ; )

It is actually called Very Dark Greek. That is the name it had when I got it, but it is what it is.

Looks like a chimera to me.

Well Jon, you're the MAN!!!  The figs on my tree are dark green until they ripen.  This was the first year I got to really see and taste the fruit.  It's a keeper!  I'll change the name on my tree to Very Dark Greek.
