July 25, 2012 Harvest

Here is today's harvest.  These three varieties have been the best producers of main crop figs in my small collection.  At 12 o'clock is Violette de Bordeaux.  At 4 o'clock is the unknown I've been calling Joe's Jersey.  At 8 o'clock is LSU Purple.  All three are sweet.  VDB and Joe's Jersey are more flavorful than LSU Purple so far.

Nice pictures Joe  - thanks !

Very nice thank you for sharing.

Nice pics Joe. About how old is your LSU Purple?

Thanks guys.

BLB, the LSU Purple is in its 3rd year. It already tastes much better than last year. I'm hoping it will continue to improve with age.

Thanks Joe, then it is holding true to what everyone says about it

Great stuff, Joe! I'm looking forward to getting some ripe LSU Purples myself; this is the first year mine has p roduced any fruit, so I've got a few years to go. Your VdBs are encouraging--mine are still pretty small. I'm out of town and anxious to get back and see how everything is doing.

As always Joe, You sure do impress. Great looking figs.

Thanks guys.

Ken, let us know what you think of LSU Purple when you taste it.

Joe delicious looking figs. You live in zone 9 which is a good zone for figs. Here in zone 6 I am looking for 30 to 45 days for my figs to ripe. It is good size for still green.

Abraham, best luck with those figs.
