Today,I inspected my figs for ,to see wich of them formed Embryos, here in Nj,on First of June.
All cultivars that have embryos figs now will for sure get ripe this Sommer Season.
The largest embryos are the size of small grapes,on the Following cultivars:
Blue Celeste
Marseilles vs Blk
Gino's fig
English Brn Turkey
Don Fortissi Black
The remaining cultivars have fruit Embryos, the size of a small corn kernell.
They are,in no pardicular order:
Mary Lane
Brown Trk #2
Malta black
Hardy Chicago
Atreano
Tacoma violett
Tiny Celeste
UCDAVIS Celeste
Improved Celeste
Stella
Sicilian Wht
Archipel
Lindhurst Wht
Paradiso Gene
Brn Trk (Henry)
Green Sal
DFIC 17 Brown Trk
Pananas purple
Bronze Paradiso
Kathleen Blk
Sal Gene
Excell
These cultivars will all get ripe, unless.some that are new to me,sour,or split badly,at the time of ripening, wich will render them inedible.
Also there will be other that get ripe ,even thow they did not form Embryos, but the above cultivars are sure bet.
I have no doubt ,that this Sommer will be much more suitable to get ripe fruits in Zone 5,6,7,of the US,compared to 2009,and 2008.

I noticed today main crop embryos (small corn kernel size) on the trees that ripened some fruits last year i.e.
Sal (EL)
Marseilles VS Black
Natalina
Hardy Chicago, and
Celest

yes, it appears that there is plenty of time for a bigger portion to ripen. I may starting pinching new embryo appearing after the end of June and hopefully that will help the quality/ripening of the ones appearing until the end of June.

A few other trees have a tiny bulge appearing where the embryo is suppose to appear. I hope the summer stays like it has been so far.

My Gino is showing little figs too. Thanks to the kind person who made it possible for me to have
this variant. Herman, any good news on your Desert King ? My DK is happily loaded and this is my
anchor variant.

I guess herman made a small mistake when he copy pasted the content from GW.

Thank you for the update and information Herman.

Your figs looks great, very healthy.

And I think you are right about this being a good fig season this year.  Ours look better than ever, they are growing very rapidly and loaded with figs.  Almost all of the brebas dropped early here, but the main crop set quickly and is rapidly moving toward maturity here in Zone 7b.  I will let everyone know when we have the first ripe figs, but I don't think it will be long.

Thanks Herman.  Good health and good gardening to you my friend.

Best wishes to all.

John
Georgia Piedmont
Zone 7b

Right now have a few plants at different stages from kernel sized figs to quarter sized figs.

Bronze Paradiso #1( My Plant ) Some Breba dropped in late April and I pull off the rest- Main crop is loaded from pea sized to dime size lots of twins at each leaf node.

Broze Paradiso #2( My Fathers ) Dozen Breba " Huge"- very little pea sized main crop

Colasanti Dark #1 - Almost ripe Main crop

Colasanti Dark #2 - lost main crop in late april kernel sized figs starting again

Desert King - Golf ball sized Breba, lots of main crop too bad its a san pedro type.

Kadota ( Monrovia ) My Fathers plant - quarter sized main crop

Mission -

Peters Honey

Need to check the others that just started growing again when I go to my parents this weekend.

My Desert King has 10 Figs this year in the stagnant stage, but ommitted to mention, because main crop is what interest me here.
I have a couple of breba on a handfull other figs,like Kathleen blk,Gino's,Malta blk,English b t ,Marseilles vs blk,Atreano ,etc.

Some Pics I took this weekend from my figs at my dads house.

Ran out of memory on the memory stick will update next weekend.

Embryos that are just starting to form here on June 14 in Connecticut are: Brooklyn White, Hardy Hartford, Sal's Corleone, Marseillese Black VS, Kathleen's Black and Violetta. The Brooklyn White and the Hardy Hartford have the largest embryos. They are about the size of a small kernel of corn. I'm surprised that our two year old Violetta is behind Brooklyn White and Hardy Hartford.  All plants except for Violetta were only planted last fall. Looks like we are any where from 1 to two weeks behind figs putting out main crop figs in Southern New Jersey.
