Jurupa

I know, It's a common fig, and nothing special, until it's yours and it has roots, and shoots!  I like the name because it reminds me of one of my favorite sexy, in the mood, jazz songs, Europa by Gato Barberi.  That song will bring any girl to her knees accompanied by figs and champagne!

This fig came to me as a gift from a member here, and I got ONE cutting!  YOU will not believe the healthy exploding roots of this little baby!!  Somebody sends you ONE cutting, treasure it!  This fig will grow in ground, and next year I may have cuttings, or not.  Love to be vague!

Suzi

Congratulations on the new arrival....just in time for the New Year.

Congrats Suzi.  I like Europa (the song that Carlos Santana wrote) too.  I like saxophone too (heard Andy Grieder play that on alto once... was great!).  And I have Jurupa fig, and I have thought the same thing from time to time.  Though I more often think of one of the moons of Jupiter (Europa) instead of the song, or the car that Lotus made, or sometimes the EU, or occasionally protocontinents.  No real message I guess, just the serendipity of having had a similar word association.  :-)

(Santana studio version)
(another Wayne Shorter and Carlos Santana song)

Merry Christmas Suzi... enjoy your Jurupa.

Mike

Jurupa is the first fig I grew that I really enjoyed.  No longer my favorite, but very good.  Congrats.

Listening to it now - all I need is some champagne and figs.........

Looks like I will be keeping mine too :-)

All will spend the rest of their lives in a pot. Congrats Suzi. Can't wait till my babies get big I will definitely send you cuttings your way. I remember your kindness. The thought counts what you have done for me. I nearly cried when I lost that bid. You jumped in with open arms. I will not say who sourced me a wonderful plant. You know I am thankful. My RdB is in ground covered with burlap, tarp and rope. I have Bêbêra Preta and Madeira too!!!

So happy for you
Your fig pal,

Jennifer
