I was googling some pictures of figs cause i'm still trying to find a purple about med to large fig round fig dark red center like the purple figs I posted about a week or two and came across some nice pictures.Wow I wish these were here in Michigan at our supermarkets.Looks to me like Col De Dame Negra?
This is the exact one I'm looking for.
I'm not sure if anyone else is as weird as I am.But sometimes I just want a fig because the way it looks and really don't care how the flavor is?Anyone else like me?Don't get me wrong I love a good tasting fig. Thanks and God Bless.
I get a little like that too with the fruit appearance and colors Rob. After all, the fruits are, in a way, edible flowers. They look great hanging on the tree too! But they don't get away with hanging there for too long :-] .
I can't imagine anything that looks that good wouldn't taste just as good!
Thanks guys your both right.I wonder if the 2nd picture looks like the true Italian Everbearing?
Martin a.k.a. diesler for some reason I love dark figs too.I remember you posting on one of my posts about keep sending the dark fig pictures.
Yes Rob i enjoy seeing dark fig pictures. ; )The one you have pictured has a wonderful skin bloom to it not often discussed on the forums and makes the skin stand out in my opinion.
I used to like dark figs (& still like it) but recently I started like light (greenish yellow) figs for different reasons. Every visitor knows when a dark fig is ripe so it disappears fast (and so is the case with critters) but it is a bit different with green ripe figs and I am not telling any visitor that some of the green looking figs are actually ripe. So, I get better chance of eating the greenish ripe figs.
I think this was already ID'd for you over here in your other thread: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=5090983
This pic was a new pic lol I'm in love with it.Thanks Jason
99% positive it's the exact same fig.
99.9% its the same but different pic I was just surfing around purple figs on Google and came across by dream fig lol I don't know why I love this fig so much.
Martin, you mention the white bloom on the skin of the figs. Thats wild yeast. I'm willing to bet that yeast could be cultured and a great sourdough bread could be made. We did it at my place with concord grapes. Pretty yummy!
Hi Little JohnRob's pictures shows a blue bloom on skin. I have read in past not sure which of the famous authors i was reading at the time but some have blue and other colors . It was mentioned some can be rubbed of and some not .Kinda reminds me of bloom on some grapes like you mention . ; )Sourdough bread yes i enjoy making this season i have not made any and failed to feed my starter for very loooooong time probably all alcohol nowBut i do have some starter flakes i made and stored in freezer for just my projected neglect.
