A different kind of fig putting on fruit for the first time. These figs will turn red when ripe. Dunno how edible they are...yet. This is Ficus gasparrinia var. laceratifolia. I grow a few other ficus besides our common carica, thought this one was interesting for the leaves, now with fruit I really love this plant. Had to share.

That is fantastic! I hope they're edible. I was looking at the Afghanistanica on ebay the guy said it fruits but rarely outside of it's native land. Also very interesting leaves.

Looks good Barry good luck with it

Soo cool Barry ! Hope they are edible too . Keep us posted !

Tami, I have that one. It grows very fast but still too small for any fruit.
Maybe next year?

Igor,
That's funny, we seem to have very similar tastes in figs.

Nice looking plant, Barry

Edible or not, it lends an added exotic look to the garden. Certainly works for me.

I agree, really beautiful.

Personally, I love the speckled figs. That's really cool looking! Makes me wonder how they taste.

So, have they ripened ?

And more importantly is it palatable? Everything is edible at least once.

LOL... hello?, maybe the figs were....  <;...x

darn, I was looking forward seeing some pictures of the ripe fruit.

I found an older thread here on it.  Interesting!
