Just Fruit and Exotics nursery

I received my Smith tree I ordered from JF&E yesterday. I'm replacing a false Smith I received from a different nursery. It cost me $53 to buy the tree and ship it from Florida to Colorado. It has a leaf or two left on it, which match what the variety should look like; so that's good. Second observation is.. THAT SUCKERS HUGE! It's bigger than my 2 yr olds, and from the uniform color of the wood it looks to be a one year old. The tree is just under 4 ft tall, and has been topped at least a month ago. Man it must be nice to have such a long growing season. Anyway, worth every penny and I'm glad I ordered from them. I would definitely use them again.

So when you get a tree not the same variety, do you return it?

Lucky you!
I think they do not ship to CA.
Congrats!

I was wondering about that two, I've never had to do it.  I'm sure it depends on the nursery, their policy and if you have to prove its not true to variety.   If it was from a private seller I guess it depends on that person.  I would say it is also a matter of if its worth your time to pursue.

I'm real happy to hear how awesome your new tree is Calvin, congratulations! !!  It is always nice to hear about business that truly delivers, a quality product that is true to description. I keep reading on here that Smith is a great variety, I can wait to see how well it does in Colorado for you.

There are a few on JF&E I've been eyeballing myself.

I orders a brown turkey 5 plus foot tall from Willis orchards a few years back. It turned out to be Adriatic. I emailed them when I found out and the shipped me a brown turkey and I got to keep the Adriatic.

No, the supplier doesn't want to pay for return shipping. They would prefer to send you a replacement and be done with it. Dave's scenario worked out the same also.
They already sent me a replacement, the first tree was a Marsielles that was raunchy with RKN so I just tossed it, the second I think is a Vert. I will keep the 2nd at least through harvest next year, then I'm not sure what I'll do with it. I already have a Battaglia which is similar but better.
One thing for sure, I'm just done with the first guy, he won't get anymore of my business.

Here is the link to the (?)Verte.

Thanks

As you may know, I received my Smith from JFE 1st week of April, and it grew beautifully and produced about 25 incomparably great figs for me this summer. It was so good I ordered a second one from them, it arrived about 3-4 weeks ago. Double the fun for next summer! The trees are very healthy and vigorous. In fact my first Smith put on so many leaves it had to shed some in mid summer. Good luck!

JFE are just great folk.  I ordered several trees from them last year -- One , a "Nero" , turned out to be a Smith.  They replaced it no problems... and I got to keep the Smith -- two Smiths, yay for me!  Nice, healthy, BIG trees. Luckily for me , I can drive over and visit them (awesome nursery).  Great folk to do business with.  Will be heading over on the 20th to pick up my Christmas presents (my wife and child think Ive gone nuts....Trees for Christmas? Why , Yes...)

Thanks for this. After reading this last night I went to check them out. Smith has been on my wish list since I first heard of it. I ordered 2 and a ice cream Banna as well. Got an email and shipping confirmation this morning. Wow on A sunday they are working and shipping. A+ on service. Cant wait to get my trees. I think I'm going to need more lights though to get them through the winter. :).

A real class act group...I make a yearly pilgrimage to pick up new figs. Good luck with yours!

I've heard nothing but good things about this company.  Hopefully this year I will get a chance to drive down and see for myself.
