Just Having More Fun

I recieved this contraption in the mail today in hopes of trying to root some fresh cut cutting this coming season.
Anyways im trying it with some scion recieved today from Jon.
I used the rooting stuff that came with it and is supposed to be used with fresh cutting but i have it so i try it anyways. I scraped a little bark off as well.
Can you see my blunder in picture showing the 3 pieces off scion - hint its the last piece. I fixed it .
Also i put 1 of the 3 pieces in a gel cup and another i dipped in cloneX red rooting gel and put that in perlite mix cup.
So each has some sort of rooting stuff on the scion to see what if anything happens.
I really though want to use this system though come new growth on a few plants im messing with, one being ischia black if i can get any doggone growth off that plant this season.

Edit: forgot to mention i have the pump for the airstone on a timer 5 minutes on and about 43 minutes off and it will cycle this way 24/7. I can adjust the airflow on pump its pushing about 90% for now.
The spray bar and water pump i keep off as that is for the fresh green cuttings not the hardwood.

Martin looks like your having allot of fun, Nice Bubble Cloner

Martin,

did you scrape the wrong end of the third? I've done that.

Where did you order the bubble bath thing?

Richard

Thats exactly what i did i scraped the wrong end and corrected it when i went to dip and put into the perlite mix amongst uttering a few words to myself about it.
I could have saved money as they would be easy to make, but chose to buy 1 instead from here.

Thank you Martin.

Hey martin how far away from the water do you have your cuttings?

Hi Neslon,
they are 1 to 1 and1/2 above the water line and staying wet  as of yesterday because i took the air pump off the cycle timer and let it run 24/7.
There is a good chance they can get mold or like rooting a stick in a vase they may not time will tell. Im hopeing because of the air bubbles they are getting will help them somehow i really dont know. They were dipped in the cloning solution that came with it even though its for fresh cut green shoots but i used it anyhow. I dont have the spray bar on . If they root there is already a half dose fertilzer that came with system in the water to feed the roots that emerge.
Yesterday i put a discarded cut stick previously cut from bottom of a panache scion  with no nodes on it about 1 and 1/2 long i had in S Moss pastry container that put out roots and also is in there just to see if the roots will continue to grow im rather curious.

If they mold i will tear down the system and sanitize it and eventually start over and use the timer so they get wet and have time to somewhat dry out and see what happens that way.

My real intentions with this though is to try and root fresh green emerging shoots in the system that are supposed to stay constantly wet  that are somewhat small for fun and to see what if anything happens.
I still have that little kids curiosity in me.  ; )

Nelson if you have not seen the little stick with no node yet in another thread i posted about it, here it is, when i trimmed it off the scion there was nothing showing on it, i cut this piece off so i could properly position the other part of it in the system with its node near the water line.
Im having a lot of fun and will post good or bad what happens with all of this .

Interesting Stuff Martin I too have a bubble cloner but have not used it yet. I know this system works great for allot of Veggies & other illegal plants lol. But will give it a try with a few different fruit trees I have like Figs, Citrus and others just to see how they turnout.

Thanks for posting

Nelson I was curious about that pipe tobacco I heard Martin mention a few times now I think I get it. Sharing is Caring lol

Sal

Akram that looks pretty good wish I would of seen that earlier I would of most likely picked it up.

Sal lol, the Bubble cloner is good for many things as is the Pipe lol.

Ah i know where some of you guys were going .  ; )
Being a teen in earlier part of the 70s i was well aquainted course i did what a past President stated he did , yeah right !
Anyways i first stumbled upon information when i did a google seasrch and was reading a forum and saw the roots and all and figured if that grows so well why not try it for fun FIGs of course.
Also saw some nice lettuce plants and other vegtable plants as well but i just try for fig rooting .
Im anxious to see what becomes of it but it will take some experimenting and mistakes made along the way but im thinking i can get scion and several inch shoots to root at different times of the year if i keep at it.
Time will tell.

Several years ago, I was buying some fertilizer at a hydroponics shop in PA. I handed the clerk my credit card and he was a bit surprised.  The credit card machine wasn't even next to the register.  He had to take my credit card into another room to process it.  I'm guessing most of their transactions are taken care of with cash.

There was a fig tree in the store being grown completely hydroponcially.  The root mass was much smaller than I would have expected for a tree of it's size.

Hey Martin this is the one I have http://www.fastergardens.com/product.sc?productId=3&categoryId=9  I think in a week or two I will give it a try and see what happens.

Nelson thats a very nice setup i like it !
The price is very reasonable as well, i like the fact that yours has a humidity dome which mine does not. I can easily cover it with my other bin but im going to try not to when the time comes . Those hydroton rocks dont forget to rinse em really well before useing them if you did not know already, im going to use mine with the green shoots come later this year.
C'mon get it up and running  so we can learn from each other instead of me killing all my scion and shoots first. !!!  ; )

Hey Martin the only reason I have not started it yet is because the baby is coming real soon im guessing ill be a father before the end of next week so dont want to start anything new until the baby arrives as I will be taking a couple days off work and will be doing that here at work. But im sure I will have it up and running shortly I will let you know when I get it going. I was googling it today and found someone who rooted some Black Mission and marseilles vs black using this system I will try and go back on my internet history and see if I can send you the link.

Thanks Nelson i look forward to reading about that .
I sincerely hope your baby and babies mother is healthy in delivery as can be and may you have to change many many poopie diapers !!!
I remember them days well and kinda miss it and kinda dont.
The terrible 2s or 3s  and then teenagers.
Its parents revenge on us somehow.  ; )

Thank you Martin really appreciate it, Yes the dirty diapers oh I cant wait lol.

I shut down the aero system today as i was getting white slimy stuff on bottom of cuttings.
I cleaned the system out, recut remaining few pieces of scion lowered water level considerably and tested it.
Seems like for now 2 gallons of water keeps them just a little damp but not soaked.
Will look at them in morning to see how wet they look with pump constantly running. If there still slightly damp i will leave it alone if to wet i will use the cycle timer .
I look forward to useing fresh cut green shoots to try and propagate when the time comes later this spring.
