Just one crop?

Hi,
I have a three year old "Improved Brown Turkey" IO live in the Palm Springs, CA area where the summers are 105+  This year we got a great early crop (Brega?)  I was under the impression that there would be a second crop this summer. Didn't happen. Out side of a few sun burnt leaves the tree is healthy and growing. It gets plenty of water in the sandy soil.
Am I mistaken about two crops?

San Piero is a common, bifara fig. So you are not mistaken. Problem is there is a lot of confusion between San Piero, San Pietro, and San Pedro figs.  Question is: do you have an actual SP? Did it die back and make a comeback? Are you overfertilizing it? And lastly, are you familiar with the difference between the breba and main crop figs? It may have produced both but you did not notice it. Hope this helps.

Ruben,
Now I'm confused. I have an Improved Brown Turkey. Is the San Piero the same under a different name?
I fertilized only in Spring when the new growth started. Nothing since then.
I'll go back and review "brega".
Thanks,
Neil M.

Now I get it. A San Piero is a Type of fig that sets twice.  One crop is probably all I will get.

thanks,

Anziani,

Thompson's Improved Brown Turkey is a synonym for San Piero (the proper name). They are the same fig. A fig which produces a breba and a main crop is said to be bifara. Yours seems to be unifera. San Piero is bifara. If you have any pictures of the ripening breba figs on the tree, that may help.

Ruben,
Unfortunately the evidence has been eaten (each wrapped with a slice of prosciutto) I'll just assume it is a "unifara". We will wait until next year. Thanks for straightening me out.
