Khurtmani=Brunswick?

It seems that an Israeli fig enthusiast believes that the famed Khurtmani fig, the most sought out commercial variety in Israel, is probably a Brunswick.  I have seen by searching this forum that this topic has been brought up before.  However I want to know if anyone has further insight on the subject.  I know many people say that variety x is similar to variety y but not the same and many who say that x and y are the exact same.  In pictures they look different to me, it seems that Khurtmani looks very red but that could be do to the growing conditions in Israel while the Brunswick seems a bit more dull but again they could be the same growing in too different conditions...  I am no authority on such topics, just a researcher.

I know what you mean I researched and read many sites descriptions of figs and many are different from each other. This site lists Khurtmani as a synonym for Brunswick.

But pictures i have seen show khurtmani as a red fig and Brunswick as bronze...

Very confusing...

anyone who has both can probably say for sure.

Can't say for sure, but have always suspected it.

I have both. The figs did not look similar, color nothing alike, though I didn't take any pictures this year to post here. The Brunswick also has distinctive leaves that I don't remember looking like the Khurtmani. I'm sure someone else here has better documentation to comment further.

Thanks for all of your responses.  Hopefully we will get to the bottom of this.  It would be cool if they were the same but I don't know.  I know the Brunswick has been sold as "Brown Turkey" by mislabeling here in the South and in Texas is known as the Magnolia.  They have distinctively narrow leaves.
