How'd they taste compared to fresh?  Was the fig cooked alll the way through or was the bottom raw?  Very good idea, Mrs FMD!

This looks AMAZING!

Mrs FMD that's fabulous ! I'll definitely be using your brulee technique .

Next year I will planing my vacation in FL in end of July or so. Very nice Frank they look delicious.

Thanks for sharing this, Frank!  Looks delicious (and I assume you wouldn't post it if it didn't also taste delicious).  Thanks to Mrs. D (or Mrs. FMD) too.

Mrs. FMD thanks you all.

Bob, the brûlée torch caramelizes the surface of the fig giving it a crusty /crunchy texture. The bottom part of the fig remains jammy and figgy. It makes for a nice combination of tastes and textures.

Yes, it made a very nice desert, Mike. We had a guest for dinner and she raved about them.

Time to buy a torch. Wow.

Have folks put figs under the broiler?

Wow. Looks great!!

A lot of people broil figs topped with goat cheese or other dishes.

That looks deelish!!

We are cooking crappie wrapped in fig leaves, drenched in butter and herbs tonight.

Sound advice, Barry. And not only figs.....

Do not let your wife pass the torch -not yet.

Now, what kind of formaggio does she recommend?

Dale, she used Manchego Cheese, but any good aged cheese will suffice. Can't beat that seet and savory combination.

Charles, my wife was thinking of producing gourmet fig products for sell but that's pie in the sky. so to speak. We are currently in the process of making a batch of fig preserves using ginger an lemon to give it that special bite. We are also making fig leather and experimenting with various spices, including cinnamon, anise, chiles etc.
