Killer Snow Storm

Hi All,

Here in Calgary we had snow for three days and we had a lot of tree damage!
My three figs didn't freeze but two of them lost all their leaves.
My big Jerusalem I cut back and put the cuttings into a freezer bag and put in the crisper for spring.
My KADOTA lost it's leaves and should go dormant?
Mt Brown Turkey looks like nothing ever happened!

I just took my trees back outside this morning. We had a very light snow yesterday and a frost warning for this morning. By 11am, temps were up to 70F.

Holy moly, what is your zone Buster??? You are a dedicated fig grower.  Good luck!

Buster, those are potted trees. Do you have a way of bringing them inside to protect them?

Wow that is rough, I hope that your trees do ok for you guys.

Crazy to hear about snow already.  Of course, I'm way south of you.  Good luck to you.

Unbelievable but true.

My calender says its still summer! It's not perfect, but I love California.

Hi Buster,
I think that your 2014 fig season is over ... So I would winterize the trees.
In your zone and with potted trees, I would try to keep them with a shorter trunk to allow for easy moving around.

Greetings. Yes, if your fig lost all of it's leaves after a cold snap, your tree is naturally starting to go dormant. I think we are in for another rough winter. Good luck with your fig trees.
