KITCHEN CRAP - CHECKOUT NEW MEMBER PROFILE

I don't quite understand what the problem is. Looks like nice kitchens for preparing fig dishes in. General information is a place to tell something about yourself. What you choose to put there tells something about you too. So does calling crap on someone with caps lock on. I worked in a cabinet shop when I was younger. As you can tell from my profile I have since changed occupations, but I don't see any reason to badmouth those cabinets. I think welcoming a new member, and asking about the interests they express in their profile would be a more appropriate approach.

Hi Johaaa8, welcome to the forum. Why not tell us something about how you became interested in figs?

Tom

Tom, it's a spammer.  Spammers don't deserve welcomes.  I don't know if Jon has the ability to block a particular IP address or not, but that might be able to stop this nuisance.

I'm a moderator for the banana forum and when I ban a spammer I check their IP address.  Sometimes I'll find that the person has registered several other IDs already so I ban all of those as well.  If someone continues to come back and register another ID I ask the administrator to block the IP address and that has always put a stop to it.

Harvey,
I believe your approach works with the static IPs, right? If my service provider is a cable company and I do not have a premium account, my IP would change quite often since my computer is on the DHCP.

more than likely a bot... not even a human.

FWIW  If you do a quick search on "johaaa8 banned", you see the same cabinet email address, and is banned on 7 of the forums on the first results page.

I can't count how many forums this "johaaa8" has joined just this month.

Okay, so that's a problem for the system administrator, it clogs his computer with nonparticipants. As a participant I wouldn't have noticed it if this thread hadn't been started about it. Now me, and at this point, 120 have wasted our time reading about it. I commend dkirtexas for picking up on it (the world needs more lerts) but it seems to me that a quiet PM to Jon would have been more appropriate than a flaming post that sucked us all in.

Tom

I would send him a gift of a Fig variety that gives him a chronic Diarrhea !

Here (funny) it is once more ...
I think that the word  'computer-spam' originated from a cross
from the (WWII?) USA canned-meat brand Spam and
one of Monty Python's hilarious British TV comedy shows ...

A quiet email to Jon would not be productive. He is employed, as a number of people are these days, to produce as much spam for his client (if that is the word) as he can. The idea being that if just one person buys something from his client, he has succeeded.

thx Gorgi - anytime there's an excuse to watch an old MP skit things just seem better.

But still; "I don't like spam!"
