Landis Valley herb and plant faire this fridayamd Saturday!

Hi all,

This Friday and Saturday is the Landis valley herb and garden fair (2451 Kissel Hill Rd Lancaster). I will be selling many varieties of fig trees, Asian persimmon trees, paw paw ( wild and named varieties), hardy pomegranate, lingonberry berry, low bush blueberry, hardy kiwi, jujube trees, green tea plants, galangal, turmeric, mulberry trees, Haskap ( honey berry), gooseberry, hop plants, goji berry, dragonfruit, Asian pear trees, raspberry plants, muscadine, and bonsai trees to name a few. It is a fun event, and perfect time to buy for mother's day gifts-great time for all! I know a lot of forum folks are located too far away, but for those in driving distance that are interested, I hope to see you there. I will certainly give you the " forum discount" on anything I have. Of course there are other great vendors with interesting items ( food, crepes, healthy drinks, candles, crafts, etc). Hope to see some of you there!

I wish I was in town this weekend! Good luck!

Best of luck to you Bill. Im growing Haskap. Should be a good year. I am interested in your kiwi. I tried growing a few last year but only have one plant to show for it. What varieties do you have?

Thanks, Nick. Here are some pics of what I'll be taking.

Thanks, Aaron. I have Issai ( semi self fruitful) which doesn't produce much fruit, Anna which I really like, ken's red, which is different looking, and meader (male) as the pollinator. I really like Haskap. It really produces early and it flowered for me in March. Luckily, the blooms are Hardy to -7 degrees C.

Hopefully I will see you there. Sounds like a good excuse to take off work!

Sounds like a blast! Best of luck!

Hi Bill, I will be in Hershey this Friday doing all the touristy thing. Hopefully I will be able to make it to Lancaster for the garden fair.

Hi Bill! You know I'll be there :) I may come out your way on Friday (early afternoon timeframe) and stay the night since its my Bday weekend :) Definitely planning on making the Faire on Saturday though and will bring your Siblawi

Great, Jamie! I think Saturday is actually going to be a nicer day, with no rain for a change. Johnny D, hope to see you as well.

Norhayati, that would be great. While you're in Hershey, if you go to the Hershey gardens, there is a large "famous" fig tree. It is called the "Testa fig". It was brought over from the Abruzzo region of Italy by Emidio Testa fifty years ago in its original location. It was at a busy intersection in Hershey. People loved/hated it because it looked like a mummy wrapped up every winter. As a symbol of the strong Italian influence in Hershey, a cutting was rooted, donated, and grown at the gardens years later. I'm sure it may need a little spring pruning...wink.
