Anyone have an idea what this is? The pulp inside ripe fruit is purple, was brought over by an Italian several decades ago.

No idea, but that is one huge fig. Any more information on it? Do you have a shot of the mother tree?
Not yet, but asked for one, bought a Condnadria, and two unknown green/yellow Italian imports as six month airlayer rooted stock. One was this huge yellow fig, note the freckles on the green and ripe fruit and saw tooth leaves.
Sure is a beauty! Large fruit with purple int !! Sweet?
Grande fica verde
Can you tell us from where in Italy it came? Is that breba or main crop depicted?
Grande fica verde , I like better than the tag I made for sure
It came from the Taranto City area in South Italy
It looks like a breba fruit, and the closest I could come to that is Naples white in fruit size, but I could be wrong, the leaves are not like Naples white, enjoy.
Not Naples,i have that one, not close. Not breba according to the seller. I will see how it grows this summer, most likley no figs until next year
That fig is similar to Longue D'out, (fruit and leaf) from France, but of course there will be differencies because of the adaptability to frost, and the health of the plant can also be different, and can make it a better or inferior to Longue D'Out.
in italian they say fico, or fichi if pluralfica referring to female parts!
Is this the one from ebay? If it has a purple interior. I wonder why it was not mentioned or shown in the pics. That one sold for a lot of $$. Just imagine what it would have brought if it does have an odd Purple interior. I have one that the breba looks almost identical to this also an unknown but it has a pinkish interior. I think mine is a Brunswick, Patricks, or Quarter pounder sport of some kind. A green fig with purple guts, I hope it does. I sure would like to see that.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Well-rooted-fig-tree-produces-large-green-figs-/221225802280?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item338215da28&nma=true&si=FJm9cKf4BvOleXQhM2K%252FgmwCi0I%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
I bought through a friend that knows the guy. Same seller on ebay looking at the pictures. He operates a small greenhouse business in TN. I sprecifically asked about the interior given there are a few large yellow/green ones with pink, but fewer with beet red or purple insides. All three figs survived the shipping, so time will tell.
