Large Negronne 7-27-14

My first fig from this tree. Fairly large fig with a thick but tender skin. It has a nice smooth sweetness to a very berry taste. The skin as a sweetness about it also. I would give it an 8.

Looks delicious!

Oh yeah, delicious looking for sure!

I have a small tree of Lg Negronne....similar results. Do you know any history of this variety. Have a feeling it orignated from Jon.

Armando, sorry but I do not have any history on this fig. I can only tell you that it appears to be a good fig in my area and I will
see how it  fairs during its first winter here in ground.

Taste only an 8?  Looking at it, it looks like it would be hard to beat.  Either you have very high standards or you have some really great figs!

Another nice looking fig......congrats

Ed thanks for your comments. Its the very first fig from this tree, we have had four days of rain in the last ten days and I believe it can
and will only get better. If I give it a 9-10 it would be a stretch when compared to some of my other figs like Black Madeira, Kesariani, Black Greek
and Marsellies Black to name a few.

Great looking fig, Mike.  I look forward to seeing these kinds of posts from you.  :)

Thanks Frank, I am glad you enjoy them.

Yum! I'm glad with all of the rain it was still ++.

Still among my favorites.  Nice pictures, nice figs!

Mike

Mike you are coming to life.  Must be nice to taste all these varieties.

Thanks

Was that a breba?

Yes it was a breba

How many grams was it, do you know?

Your Large Negronne is a fine Super fig!
A keeper in all respects.

Is Large Negronne different from Negronne or are you just commenting on the size of the fruit.

Goss, the cutting I received was labeled LG and that

Mike, you've got a whopper there. Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. BTW, what is breba? I hear this term use a lot.

Breba = first crop on last years wood. All figs do no have breba figs.
