I requested permission from Jon (pitangadiego) for permission to make this post and he graciously replied today that he was fine with me doing so. Many members have already made one or more purchases from my web site since I launched the cuttings page at the end of January. Yesterday was the first day I was completely caught up on shipments. I still have a good supply of over 150 varieties to chose from. I tried to price everything at what I considered to be reasonable, though I understand there will be different opinions on that. This post is not intended to be a public opinion poll on my pricing so please just don't bother addressing that. In nearly all cases, I could sell for higher prices on eBay and have done so in the past, but find that eBay is not a very practical means of moving the quantity of cuttings I have available. Over the past 19 days my orders have averaged just over 16 cuttings per order with some orders being quite large with over 100 cuttings. I have a nursery license as part of my farming operation and my sales of cuttings have helped me expand my fig plantings (now over 300 varieties) and I'll likely offer even more varieties next year. Please visit my order page at http://www.figaholics.com/cuttings.htm for further details. Thanks!

This time I will make sure I get everything I want so I don't have to pay shipping a third time down the road.. Harvey just to clarify, it's $10 for shipping in the US right? What is the limit of cuttings we can receive at the $10 shipping rate? You really do have some great varieties and honestly they are priced very fairly.. Like you said, Many would go for a great deal higher on Ebay and I know that is a fact! Another lesser known fact is that I STINK at winning on Ebay lol so I'm glad to have you making so many great varieties available to us all.
God I need help lol, 73 new varieties since November and I still want MORE! :) Can one ever truly get their fill of new varieties?

The fee for USA shipping is fixed at $10 regardless of quantity ordered. I've shipped at least one order of over 100 cuttings to a USA address. I don't mind losing a little on shipping cost for a large order so go ahead, make my day! LOL

I've been waiting for years to buy from you, Harvey, I'm so glad you got your site up! I've missed out on your ebay listings in the past, and have never been comfortable pm'ing people to ask about buying their cuttings, so a website like yours is great from my perspective. Your cuttings are a good value. They're robust and healthy, and a lot of them have been big enough to cut in half and yield 2 viable cuttings. Thanks again for all the high quality cuttings, and thanks for all the hard work it took to grow, prune, and ship them! *HarveyC for President 2016*

Thanks Harvey, as I have said several times before, thanks for the "HUGE AND HEALTHY" cuttings. I have placed 3 orders... 46 varieties and some multiple cuttings. As you can see, I have a low, or next to none, resistance when it comes to buying fig cuttings, especially being able to get some fairly rare varieties and a good price....about a third or less of what I would have paid bidding against others on eBay. I like this kind of buying, just go through the list and add what you want and PayPal and Harvey will do the rest. And guess what....great tasting varieties at a price that I can afford. Remember members, great taste and growing habits is what its all about. Well maybe affordability should also be a factor. Thanks Harvey, I wish everyone would follow your lead.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! The main regret I sometimes feel now is a bit of jealousy. I see someone buy 50-100 varieties and have an instant great collection that took me a several years and dozens of purchases to put together. But I'm glad to see this happening and wish I had taken the time to put together the shopping cart last year. I would like there to be photos on my order page but that would have delayed the launch by 2-3 weeks and resulted in a very lengthy order page. I hope that the Facebook links are helpful, at least.

Thanks for all your work, Harvey. You have many of the varieties that I would not have normally thought would do well as inground plants in my area; but you make it possible to try them out one by one. Really keeps my interest going. This last one I ordered I thought I would try to graft, but it's so thick I don't know I can find a whip to match. Not complaining ha! Thanks again.

I hadn't had time to see the updates to this thread until now, working long hours every day to get orders filled as quick as I can. Not much of a family life right now except for the couple of times my wife has taken a vacation day off of work to help me ship. Two Saturdays ago my wife and son were helping me and Blue was here being very generous with his time and helping me out and that was a crazy day. My son says that "Blue" is crazy with the pace he works at. Most days I'm alone and I continue packing in the evening after making a run to the Post Office. Do I want to do this again next year??? No!!! Will I? Very likely on an even larger scale, though I may bother not to sell some of the varieties in low demand since I just won't have the room for them in my walk-in cooler.Quote:

Some varieties are more of an immature type of wood and those often don't store well for many months. But most cuttings should hold up for a lot longer than that if kept at consistently cold temperatures (i.e., not next to warm foods in your refrigerator every night).

I've sold and shipped a lot of cuttings, still lots left! :)
Despite stormy weather, got several orders out, one of them was picked up by the mailman 25 minutes after the order was placed! One long-time friend bought back a variety he had sold me 3 years ago and he lost (price was higher back then!). Pretty hard for me to lose a fig tree here unless I run over it with a tractor or our island floods. We're going to need a lot more rain before that happens but my orchard is below sea level and did go under water for six months back in 1972.

I don't think Falls Gold is very not rare but it is a nice fig, I like it quite a bit. Not all good figs are rare, of course, since more and more people select the best figs to grow. Edit: I mistakenly typed "is very rare" but meant "is not very rare"

I like all types of figs but my own personal preference is for ones with a berry flavor and some acidity, but I like to try all figs for the experience of variety. Bakio is more of a sweet type which is nice and pleasant. They are all good. There is one variety which I and Neil (posturedoc) both spit out when we tasted it and it's not one I grow. :)

Was it Italian 88? "Weak, watery, and worthless"? I picked up a cutting of that by mistake at the Prusch Park scion exchange.

At Prusch around September 2014 Neil and I tasted Italian 88, the most vigorous of the fig trees there, and it was about like eating plain oatmeal but not quite that good so we spit it out. :P
