Last breba for 2013 Dark Port

I thought all my brebas in my "orchard" had either been eaten by me and my five year old or fallen off.  My boy and I strolled along and must have heard a deep purple screaming at us from under a leaf.  To my surprise he heaved the leaf aside and discovered a ripe breba fig on the Dark Portuguese today.

It was a yummy find.  Sweet and lightly figgy.  It was quite good for a breba, and as good as some of the main crop fig varieties we grow.  This DP is loaded with many green main croppers and we look forward to eating those in several weeks, if we can keep the mockingbirds away.  :)

Thanks for sharing your pics and story. Looks yummy

Nice!
;-)

Bass Dark Portuguese is a winner for me. It is excellent in taste, reliable & it does produce a
good size main crop.

This cultivar reminds of HC and thus was expendable here but its a excellent tasting fig in my humble opinion.
Main crop you will really enjoy.
