Aaron likes to call others names, insult them, threaten them.......then he goes back and deletes his posts or entire threads if he created them.  When someone like yourself hours later reads the thread.....all they see are the harsh comments directed at Aaron but not his posts that caused it...because he deleted them.  It really is quite a good ploy and he uses that to try and garner sympathy from people such as yourself.

This thread is not a disgrace. It is a wakeup call. People have risen up and we will tolerate only serious, constructive discussion. No more tooting your horn, no more advice from a beginner. It is time to reform your online presence. Learn to co-exist with others by being humble and working on your own horticultural skills, and maybe things will change for the better for you. Say what you feel you need to say because I am going to delete this thread tomorrow morning as my farewell gift.  I feel there is still a need for discussion but I did not start this as an invitation to a lynching.  The crazy part of this is, it wasn't directed at any one member but a running spat between two other members.  Regardless, it will be over soon so get it out of your system!  All this poison is surely distasteful and is not worthy, nor helpful.  I urge a sense of maturity, and certainly, good manners.

The arrogance and egotistic attitude of a new member, repeat new member, who insists he will revise, revamp and correct all fig names is beyond the border of the absurd. I guess it was a little less than a year ago that I found this out after chiming in on the thread myself.  And again he's gonna single handedly resolve the supply problem of rare figs it's just ridiculous. I love new members, it's what keeps this forum going but when someone comes in and glory hounds like that I try to minimize any further contact, what's the use talking to someone who knows so little yet acts as though he is gonna fix all of our problems. I know this thread is about civility and keeping order and such, but WillC makes a valid point, in the interest of the integrity of the forum and to protect other newbies etc, sometimes you do have to speak up. I just did. I do not want to see long time members leaving, especially because of 1 or 2 misdirected people. Hang tough people, speak up, set the record straight and let's keep growing.

I really want to say some things to some people that I will doubtless regret, so I am going to temper myself, though it may not seem like it.

Why has this thread generated 92 responses in a matter of hours? Has any other thread generated as much interest, as much response as this thread has? There has been more interest (2000 views and counting) than there has been for the fig gatherings around the country this year. Has anyone who posted on this thread, once, twice, ten times spent as much energy posting about figs today? Added some new pictures? Learned anything in their orchard this week that might be useful to others? Read an interesting article about figs that should get shared?

Yes, Aaron has his issues, but I am sorry, so do a lot of other people, who wasted far too many hours and far too many brain cells on this thread, and the last one, and the one last year, and the year before that.
