With the exception of two potted figs, which I don't really hold out hope for, all figs are sleeping in the basement hopefully until next spring. After I got the plants in the basement I noticed a fig left on one of the Hardy Chicago trees that was started on 5-1-2016. It was one of the about 20 that were started on 5-1, potted in the tree pot 5-12 and repotted on 06-23 into the 1 gal.
Then into the 5 gallon trade pot 08-07 and brought into the basement in November with a small fig attached.

That tiny fig ripened in the cold, dark basement. It was a tasty little morsel of what to look forward to in 2017.
I've got a Lattarula. This is all the growing it did from about March until June.
It put on some growth which it didn't lose a single leaf when it started getting cooler outside. A couple days ago I had a little surprise.
The first 2017 fig to start growing. Yeah, I know. I should pinch it off...but not yet. I like to see it on the plant. Once it got repotted into the 2.5 gallon it had a growth spurt and then sat still until the last few days.
I don't know what made it start growing. It was dry as a bone and it wasn't under lights. In fact, it was by the door on it's way down into the basement when I noticed the bud swelling.
I've only got a few plants from this year that didn't lose their leaves and I'm keeping watered and under lights. Hopefully the rest will sleep until the spring and I'll be able to concentrate on caring for the new cuttings.

Thank you, Mike!!!
