Latarolla almost ready

This fig looks to be starting to swell. I have a pretty good crop on the tree for a first crop, but the tree is about 3 or 4 years old can't remember exactly when I got it. I planted it in ground last year but with all that rain the figs were not edible and only a few anyway. This year it took off and is about 7 ft tall. I have pruned it a couple times already the wind assisted me by knocking  down 3 very tall branches. I like the way this tree looks, I like the leaves and the overall growth and now a chance to taste the figs coming up soon.

you sure do have the golden touch.

This is my latarulla. It was super root bound and like my celeste another one I got on clearance at Agway. It had 2 figs on it, but one went missing the day after I planted it.  I thought it may be a dwarf but looks like it was just malnourished and rootbound.  In ground has made a huge difference on this one.

This is the only fig off the tree.  Should be ready by sunday is my thought

I am excited to get a better sense of this variety Latarolla as well. Last year I only got a couple ,but this season it is really loaded. Recently took off 75 so the remaining 50 could ripen well. From a cutting from ejp.

latarulla = latarolla?

Kerry, That tree is beautiful. That's what you call A-One pruning. Great job.

Latarolla and latarulla are totally different trees. Latarolla has soft light green leaves and fruit has red/pink interior  . Latarulla has dark green /shiny leaves with an amber to pink interior.The shape of the leaves are not alike also. My opinion is latarolla is better all around , my plant shows no sign of FMV also.    Angelo NY Zone 7a

Yeah Tim 2 different figs, Latarolla is also a larger fruit. It is not as commonly available as Latarulla which has a few different names as well. Got mine from Ed also. I just realized I mispelled the name. I'll try to edit.

I also have the same Latarolla but no figs this year. It is a beautiful looking tree with unique branching. No signs of FMV on mine either.
Drivewayfarmer, please take photos of the ripe figs and let us know your opinion regarding the flavor.

Guess you don't want to see the ripe fruits from my tree huh Leon? lol

I do Barry , because I know that Philly heat is going to ripen them very well.
I farmed an hour west of Philly for 15 years near Valley Forge area. I sometimes miss that almost southern type Summer that ripens fruits so well.

What a difference a day makes. Almost there. Kerry, record heat 2 years in a row. It is brutal with that humidity but it does grow stuff.
