These are 2 cuttings of the same plant one of our most generous and experienced members sent me (cough Ra-cough-f-cough-ed-cough-cough) Thought some might enjoy the incredible variability.
Bob, funny that you just posted this. I was just looking at some cuttings and making the same observation. It is very interesting thata new cutting can have two and even three leaves that do not match.
what do you have there bob? looks almost like my young VdB that i rooted last yr. the parent tree still has weird leaves at the beginning of the spring.
It's very funny, I have seen the same thing, you could have 10 cuttings and not one is the same (not usually) but sometimes some had 1 lobe some have 3 some have 5, some keep 1 lobe longer than others etc.
Mike, add your photos! The more the merrier! Pete, I'll PM you. Can't identify the giver and the variety, only one or the other. :)
Happens quite often with such juveniles.FMV can also distort leaves .To know dominant leaf of plant best to wait until plant is mature and view it later in season. Not in this thread but i see often folks wanting to know what type of plant they have when its very young and often changing. Some are more obvious but not always.
Heh! My two VdB look exactly the same! Same size and same variability.
Bob, the first pic is of Ischia Black and its FMV but you can still see the different leaves/lobesSecond is Panache
