Leaf-out pictures

A few topics in this forum turned a little sour. With that being said let's turn it around and post pictures of your potted or in-ground figs leafing out! So for those of us in the warmer parts of the country let's post pics of what you have so far. Mine just leafed out a few days ago and I will post some later this evening.

Nobody seems to be biting so I will get started.

LSU Hollier: This one woke up about a week ago. 20 gal pot.

Oh wow that looks good for being so early. Mine is probably a few weeks away from catching up.

We are experiencing an early spring, which is not all good.  Last year we had very similar early spring, but a late frost wiped away 12 inches of new growth and ripening times were much later than normal, especially on the late varieties.

Pictures from just now. First, is Bourjasotte Noire it is on its 4th leaf.

Random potted left outside over winter.

Scott's Black 3rd leaf, potted left outside during winter.

Vista in ground 3rd leaf, also some brebas.

St. Rita 3rd leaf.

Calderwood 2nd leaf.

These didn't fair so well with a 17 degree freeze.

Surprising this first year planted (1.5 years old, airlayer) RdB almost froze to the ground, it was 8 feet tall.

Nero 600m 2nd leaf ,also froze nearly to ground, Stella next to it had minimal damage.

Stella 2nd leaf.

Half of my one year old Panache froze out.

And half of my now 3rd leaf Preto froze out, really annoyed because I really liked the shape.

For the most part the freezes only really effected my first year plantings, no matter size, the RdB had a 2.5 inch trunk.

LdA and HC seemed the least effected by freezes.

Oh wow those trees look beautiful. I wonder if mine will leaf out much earlier next year. I am a little surprised how far behind mine are given that I am in zone 9a/b, can't remember.

I'm thinking yes they will.  But, I live in zone 8b and I can tell you it is way, way different than zone 8b Oregon.

It got to 17, but only once, and very mild after that.  Next year it could be teens or god forbid single digits, which happen about once every 10-12 years.  Every summer will get to at least 100 for an extended period of time.

Don, I think we may escape a late freeze this spring, it could be a good year for early figs.

It's upsetting to see the VdB especially leafing out with horrible looking leaves. One is essentially just straight with no lobes and super thin. The panache has some normal ones, but some are missing half the leaf structure. I hope as the season goes out the FMV leaves are just a memory.

My trees are still sleeping in the garage.but here are a couple of pictures of some late figs that I picked last year

Those look delicious! I hope I get at least a few this year!

This is from today, a Smith branch leafing out that I grafted 2 years ago to a Celeste tree.

Tonight. Doing what shuffle I can with my apartment. Brebas on RdB, Vista, and "Burbank Vineland." Can't wait for the season to get going.

Luckily my wife likes figs enough to put up with me taking up a good chunk of the kitchen :)

Good luck everyone!
