Other than Sassafras, are there any other trees with different leaves on the same tree?  Is there a scientific name for this? and if there is, what is it?, LOL

Quote:
In some deciduous trees, the leaves on the exterior of the tree differ in shape from those inside the tree. These leaves are referred to as "sun leaves" and "shade leaves." Shade leaves are also found on the canopy of the tree on the side away from the prevailing sun. Sun leaves optimize their shape for capturing solar energy while also reducing moisture loss. Their different shape (longer) and size also appears to benefit the leaves on the interior of the tree. Those shade leaves are adapted to make better use of diffuse solar radiation and operate at different time windows than the sun leaves, that is when the sun is overhead while sun leaves are most active when the sun is closer to the horizon.

Leaves show plasticity, which means that they respond to changing light conditions. Sun and shade leaves occur in other species. In oaks, external leaves have narrower lobes while the lobes of shade leaves are broader.
