"Lebanese Black/Purple" Figs - For the record

In a recent blog on Rafeds Fig Group, Bass Samaan shared his thought on the "Lebanese Black/Purple" figs.
Thank you Bass for sharing your thoughts about this variety. To set the record straight, I recently joined the "figs4fun" group and I wanted to introduce this little known variety to the fig community, just like you or anyone else would... Do you view this as a "Promotional" act... Not at all, that is not my intention!
Also, in my introduction, I stated that this variety is very sweet, meaty and intense. I stand by my statement. To each their own. You've mentioned that "Your cousin; who is a normal person who enjoys figs and other fruits; who came by and bought some figs from me, felt that they are not sweet at all", and advised you not to bother getting any cuttings.
I am not trying to promote this variety, nor am I trying to convince people to own it, I'm only stating facts. Given the right amount of time for this fruit to ripen and mature on the tree, it gets very sweet and juicy. Besides, the skin might have a slight acidity to it, but if you want it sweeter, peel the skin off and there is your "Gem"!
I invite anyone who plans on being in my area this summer, to stop by and have a taste!

I'm certainly looking forward to trying it, Nick. Probably next year though.

Hi Nick,
first of all, Bass is known on the Forum as Bass, no need for last names....I do not see your last name mentioned any way in the forum...
2nd he just mentioned what his cousin says and he said she is not a person that tasted a lot of figs...that mean he telling us she might not be the expert on the subject.
Please let somebody copy and paste what he wrote.
3rd you forget to mention why you did not want to trade or share the cuttings 2 or 3 years ago, "I am not ready" Line is not sufficient enough.

My opinion on the Matter, YOU ARE PROMOTING YOUR FIG, nothing wrong with that, you have a good fig, and then everybody should know about it, you sold over 50 pairs of cuttings on eBay, good for you, you sold a tree in one gallon pot and only got one bidder, and that why you decided to introduce your fig, maybe you get more than one bidder next time.  May be if you listed it cheaper people will bid on.

I think it was class less from you to call Bass out, he just was giving us his opinion to his Friends at Rafed group, and he did not write it in the forum. He did say Jury still out he bought and will try for himself…but you afraid of losing sales...and tried to do damage control...
Mark

Hi Olga,
And thank you for your continued support.
Here at the forum, almost everyone has been nice, welcoming and supportive. Thank you all!
Hope your trees will grow to maturity, and you'll enjoy and share their tasty fruits with fig lovers just like I do.

Please keep me posted on their progress.
