These were taken of a fig from last season, that ripened yesterday. Unfortunately, the closest thing I can compare the taste to was a cucumber. If I understood, this is called Shtawi, and is supposed to be a winter ripening fig.
I know that in Lebanon this fig normally ripens in the Fall. This fig is cultivated because it would have ripe figs when all other trees are done with thier figs. My sister who brought me this fig from Northern Lebanon told me that it was one of her favorite figs.
