Lemon fig pics

Good day, the wife and I took a weekend get-a-way to the Blue Ridge moutains this weekend.  When we returned, a few Lemon figs were starting to ripen.  Here's one that I picked.  It wasn't totally ripe but was sweet.  It needed a few more days.  The coons got the ripe one.  It was 65g.  Some say this fig is the same as Marseilles.  I can assure you they are NOT the same fig.  Enjoy!

Thanks for he pics Dennis. How would you describe the taste?

  Pete

Hello Dennis, Hey the eye on this one looks very small, how does it hold up under wet conditions? And is this one in the ground?

Which do you prefer, Marseilles or Lemon?

Pete, I'm going to hold off describing the taste till I get a few more figs.  This fig was mild and not that sweet.  My trees are in 25g pots and doing well.  Lemon does not split when it rains.  My 2 trees did fine after 2 days of heavy rain.  However, it could be one reason why they were not super duper sweet too.  More info to come.
thanks!

I'm new to the world of fig trees and need a little advice from someone. I bought a "Yellow Lemon Fig Tree" through an eBay auction and the seller sent me some very impressive pictures (see below) but they don't look anything like the Lemon Figs I'm seeing on the forum postings. Can anyone help me identify what I bought and planted in a container in South Carolina. Thanks.

I can't comment on the fruit but the leaves look just like the ones on my lemons.

Hi Javajunkie: Thanks for letting me know the leaves are similar to your Lemon Fig tree. So are you saying you can't comment on the fruit because your tree hasn't produced any figs yet? However, If you do have fruit...is it very different looking than the pictures I posted and what does the fig taste like?

It has tiny figs on it right now but these will be the first I will be able to try. Maybe a few more months and I can comment.

For the record, it's not the same as Marseilles White. Some say that it is but it's not! I still have my 2 trees. They put out a lot of figs but the taste hasn't improved for me yet. Maybe it will this year! I'm gonna repot mine in SWPs and see what happens. Blake at PFTP says, they taste better than Marseilles White.

is Lemon the color or has any lemon flavor or smell to it?  Looks amazing, Dennis!

Hello Grasa!  It doesn't have any lemon flavor or smell.  In the right climate, the figs turn a yellow color.  I think my 2 trees are not old enough to produce the optimum figs.  Time will tell.

What a good variety to try on...... Someday I'll have that one.....

What is the difference between the Lemon and the white Marseilles?  I have the latter ( only a cutting so far) and they gave me the 2 names.

Marseilles White is a green fig with a soft very sweet white center, no cavity--has ribs on the exterior.  Grows upright like a tree on 3 or 4 branches.

Lemon is a green fig---turns yellow with proper heat, SUPPOSE to be very sweet, small cavity in the center, smooth exterior.  Mine is not that sweet yet after 2 years.  Grows in a bush form like Black Jack.

hope this helps....

Not sure why the two cuttings have different leaves...supposed to be both white mareilles/lemon?

At that young age, leaf pattern means absolutely nothing.
