Lesions On My Strawberry Verte

I've noticed these raised green lesions on one of my Strawberry Vertes.

Whatever it is, the ants seem to love it since they're crawling all around them.

They do appear to be part of the plant and not some insect or cocoon.

Does anyone know what this is???

It's a sucking insect known as scale. Ant's 'farm' them.

Here's another image from the internet.

Thank you, Gina!!!

You can just rub them off with your fingers.

My be good idea to get rid of them ants as well permantly as down the road they will be liking your figs. !

I was wondering what this were. My leaves and stems were covered with them. I just rubbed them off. Thanks for the answers.

Thanks, all...After I researched it on the web earlier based on Gina's expert diagnosis, I wiped them off with some cotton dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol

Be sure to use some organic pest control like vaseline on grafting tape around the base of the tree and that should help alot

Keep an eye out for more of them. They have a fairly short life cycle and while you may have gotten all the adults, some eggs may hatch in a few days and you will have them all over again.

I have the same problem, but the lesions are black??

Grant there are different species and colors of scales.

Yea, here in Houston I get brown ones all over my holly tree's.  Its a regular battle to keep them under control.  Ladybugs eat young scale.

Note: left untreated they will suck the life out of your tree. I lost one young tree last year because I didn't detect them early enough.

These are as noxious as the gnats... I don't want my fig trees to meet these creatures.

We need to keep a close eye on the little things, that can topple our beautiful trees.  My brother buys ladybugs and he said to release them in the evening so they don't leave the area.

The scale crawlers I encountered were very similar in shape; but much more less greenish...
[less in qty and rather light gray/brown in color]

Enjoy! the bad stuff too ...
