An old Ficus racemosa tree is ripening fruit near my village...
Are these common type figs or do they need some pollination mechanism?
Yes, it is pollinated by Ceratosolen fusciceps. But there is no male and female tree. Every specimen have hermaphroditic flowers and identically are the same.
Interesting. How are these compared to ficus carica figs?
Fruity taste but less sweet. I will try to pickle them :)
Very cool. And what a beautiful tree!
Looks like a strange apple. Lol. Is it sour. And the big question. Can it be grown by cuttings :-)
Not sour but blend. Yes it can be grown by cuttings but isn't cold hardy at all.
I live in Louisiana ;-)
In Louisiana it would make a good houseplant or an indoor bonsai :)
Live in Mississippi, I wanted one but I guess that's a no now that I see it's not cold Hardy.
Interesting! I live in California:-D
