Hi everybody,

This is a small Sal's Corleone!

The bigger leaf is cupping from the outside.......Why?

Or am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks for looking.

Heya Cecil,

Is it cupping when you say curling?  or rolling up like an old document from end of the leaf in.  I had mine cup, and it did not seem to matter.  Some are still a little cuppish, others flattened out.  I think its a response to the weather/heat/humidity.

As long as the color is good, I think you'll be ok.

Hi Jackster,

Yes to the cupping! The humidity has been in the 80's

This little guy defoliated not long ago, so I unpotted it and used new potting soil. I just hope it don't kick the bucket on me.

Cecil  --  I do that all the time for my longer cuttings. Sometimes I use two 32oz cups stacked. Other times I do it the same way as you did and keeping an inch or two above soil. This option  is preferred than using a soda bottle for potting up in the months to come.

Thanks Paully,

It might have gotten a little too much sun, I will keep it in dappled sun/or shade for a while.

Cecil, good observation on the cupping .
I dont know why this happens it happened on my kalamata plant early summer on most of the leaves and now they seem fine and normal.
This was the only plant to do that out of the little guys.

I'm definitely not an expert, but I've seen it happen to 3 of mine, all different varieties.  I've even seen some of the leaves lighten up a little, compared to others, and so far, no ill effects.  I've also seen one of my rooted cuttings have a bit of leaf drooping, but that happened right after re-potting.  It also bounced back fine.

What, if anything do you think caused the leaf drop?  Glad it came back for you, I would've been quite concerned as well.

Hi Martin.

Yes, it is the only one to defoliate and to cup the leafs too!

I have it promised to a Super nice member so I really want it to "make it"

I keep my newly potted figs in almost total shade for at least 8 to10 days. Then it goes to a spot for morning sun until about noon. Only concern I have is watering. That is not to over water. I used diluted miracle gro general purpose fertilizer. I water the plants first, let stand for at least an hour before I apply diluted Miracle Gro fertilizer. Results have been good.

Thanks Paully,

That is exactly what I have been doing with the exception of the fertilizer, I have been using Shultz Plus with micro nutrients !

I might add, I mixed the Schultz up about a month ago, then it sat on the front porch, that might have had something to do with this plant, but then on the other hand I used it on the other plants, they seem OK? I will mix up some new fert. for the next watering.
