Longue D'Aout almost there!

About a week left to go...
I love LDA's! They are massive, sweet, and have sort of a creamy texture.

7deuce, very nice looking figs. How rain tolerant are they?

Looks great!

i'm looking forward to LdA. one of 'em should be ready by end of aug. rest of 'em... well i'll have to see if weather holds up.

I don't like to comment on rain tolerance until 4-5 years old but I would say fairly tolerant. I haven't had one turn inside out like Sal Corleone.

Love it:)  Next year.

This is one of the 9 varieties I put in the ground this year.  It's doing well, but definitely wants to grow like a bush!  Looking forward to seeing the results of yours next week.

I just received mine in the mail on tuesday, can't wait to see some fruit in about 2 years. ughhhhh.

I rooted a cutting in March and after showing a lot of FMV in the early leaves it is now growing quite vigorously with only a hint of FMV apparent.  It is also bearing fruit.  I decided to knock off all but one so maybe I can taste one in the Fall.

Looks great Jason!!! Haven't tasted this one yet but hear it's a real good one. I can't seem to locate my Longue D'Aout tree. I'm sure it's there somewhere in the yard, but this year I'm so disorganized

hard from number of members along with very generous donor of my tree, this is one of those figs that tastes amazing.

How much do those things weigh??

Jason, do you know if it is cold hardy? I would love to put mine in the ground here in GA (7b).

Mike, I'm pretty sure I have read on this forum (or the GW forum) that LdA is relatively cold hardy.  I collected LdA with the idea in mind that I could potentially plant it in the ground in MD.  Maybe others can chime in too.

Steve

they look like 'delicious figs'.my little cutting of this kind was eaten by gnats, boohoohoo.

Here's a couple pictures of mine they are very good tasting fig

Wow as large as an apple....Now that is a fig!  Is it void in the middle or pretty solid?

Definitely one to add to the wish list.  Thanks for sharing, keep us updated on this giant fig.

Is it there yet? Still waiting

Anxious to see what you think

An excellent fig, a must have

axier, now i'm waiting more for the lone fig on my LdA to ripen.. there are few new figs coming out, but not sure if they will make it. this morning it was only 65 outside, and yesterday high was only 80. strange weather this yr.

As long as August and September are hot and dry I can deal with it. That's when the bulk of my figs ripen anyways. I have some trees that feel like they're a month behind.

jason, typically it's hot down here in aug, and sept.. into oct. and some yrs, into middle of nov. yesterday, it was "chilly". don't know what's going on, but i'm not feeling "global warming" right now.

I picked 1 of the 2 yesterday and let it sit for a day and it softened quite a bit more. It weighed in at 90 grams which is my biggest main crop fig to date. It is also the sweetest one of the year so far. Nice sweet jammy flavor.
