Longue D'Aout fig tree

I had my first Longue D'Aout fig from a cutting I started last year.  It was sweet but a little watery with a melon flavor.

I purchased them on ebay.

Thanks for the video Tom.

My first Longue D'Aout is in the fig nursery trying to grow into a big tree.  Once it shows it can do it, It will replace one of the 4' trees in 5 gal pots, as they go in-ground.  When you plant your cuttings in-ground, you just don't know if there are roots or none.  BUT, those with roots tend to rock!  Even if a slug gets to them, they come back big time.  Nice video.

Suzi

Very nice.

Looking good Tom, thank you.

Nice video and fig!
The fig doesn't seem as lounge as some of the other photos is this a breba?

I think you are right.  They are on last years growth.  It's so late in August I wasn't even thinking about brebas or main crop, I just wanted a fig.  I was thinking that also in the back of my mind that I thought this fig was longer.  Hopefully as this variety matures I will have time to have a main crop fig.

I was wondering about the length too, I thought they had long necks hence the name

I'm pretty sure that is a main crop fig. The main crop is much smaller. Here is what a breba looks like.

Tom,

The leaves and fruit don't match with other LdAs I've seen here.  Mine is in ground and looks different than yours too.  Could this be a mislabeled variety?

Looks different to mine also. My main crop look like the brebas. I will take some pics tomorrow if you want.

I think this is the tag he shows on his plants - I have been trying to decide what kind of permanent tag to get:

It kind of looks like Melanzana.

Melanzana and Longue D'Aout are the same. Excellent....excellent fig! I grow them side by side.

Here is a couple of pics from mine, hope it helps.
