These are from my tree. It grew to about 5 feet this year from dying back.. Very best to you all.
How do you like the taste ? Its a keeper here.
It is very good. I agree. Would love to have brebas one day..
unfortunately, the brebas are quite different from the main crop, at least here in Vancouver (and also apparently in France according to Baud). They are quite large, but rather insipid without much taste...Geofiz
Breba Longue D'Aout
Main Longue D'Aout
You're absolutely correct. The breba is impressively large but the flavor is lacking. For me, the main crop is abundant, flavorful, and meaty. A must have fig.
Another fig that did not get good review's by condit yet everyone who grow's it and has tasted the longue d'aout says otherwise that infact its a very good tasting fig. Wonder how many other great tasting figs were given bad review's by condit and other author's?Lovely pics Leon, the breba sure has an interesting shape to it.
Jose, your LdA figs are smaller than usual, Leon's figs size are more usual for LdA.Maybe you will have bigger LdA figs next year.Nelson, you are right, I don't agree with Condit's taste in many fig varieties. LdA is one of them.
