Look what grew …

…in Zone 4! I'm still toting them back and forth between the yard during the day and the mudroom at night (it was 0°C/32°F between 4am-6am). It's surprising how fast they grow, a fortnight ago they were wee bumps I was hoping might become figs. They enjoy the lengthening of daylight as we approach the solstice (15hrs 35mins of daylight today up here). These are Hardy Chicago fig trees. Counted three figs so far, but I think more are hatching (fingers crossed, toes crossed, and hair braided!). Pinching the leaves really pops out the figs!

First figs are always so exciting! Congratulations! Especially rewarding in your zone!

Definitely outstanding, more power to ya. Always nice to see pictures.

Congratulations!!  They are little beauties.

Thanks! I'm SOOOOO excited! And this is my Charlie Brown fig tree, too! (I bought 3 originally, the best I gave to my neighbour, the second best I gave to my husband, and the bedraggled one I kept. So far it's the only one with figlets!!!) All did a tremendous amount of growing last year.
This tree is named "Joe" and the other is "Frank" because they are Chicago HARDY figs afterall (although, for accuracy, they should be Bayport Hardy figs … hehe)
I also rescued a mystery fig from Canadian Tire late Iast Summer, but so far it to remains decorative. It was practically bald in August and has had to recover.
