looking for a ronde de bordeaux

I am looking to add a ronde de bordeaux fig to my collection. But i am unable to find any. If anyone knows were i mite be able to find one,i would apricate it.

Me too. There have been a few on eBay but they keep out bidding me at the last second.

it seems RdV is getting very popular. I found someone who is willing to trade black madeira, but no RdV.

i wouldn't mine few RdV cuttings.

If you are not going to trade for the Black Madeira, please send it my way. I have been hunting one for 4 years. I purchased Scion from Jon, but all my sticks dried up. I don't have RdB, but would be hapy to trade with anything else I do have.

BLB, what have you got available?  I don't remembrer if I have a spare Preto or BM, but ... I may have a BM, so I'm curious.

Look to pay in upwards of $100 or more for the RDB.
Consider yourself lucky if you even find one.

Not saying it is impossible, but the demand for it is out there which further decreases your odds of getting one.

A very good member just sold one a day or two ago on ebay and he got roughly $130 for it.

For a collector like myself I would say it is a must have. I have a small one but it didn't come at a small price.

Good luck to all of you.
It is a masterpiece!

Jason, You've got mail.

BLB,

i'll be trading for black madeira as long as my VdB survives the repotting i did last sat.. and if my VdB is what i think it is.

i heard that black madeira is hard to root and hard to keep alive, but if by some luck i get it going, i'll keep you in mind for future trade. i'm sure you will get it sooner than i can get BM going and getting cuttings.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the offer. When the time comes let me know. If have not not gotten one by then I would love to make a trade with you. I did get a couple responses and am hopeful for a trade though. I also have VDB which is growing strong.

Pete,

Suggest that you use the "peat pot in plastic cup" rooting method that I've recently written about on the forum to root your Black Madeira cuttings. That method is especially designed to make hard rooting cultivars much easier to root.  IMO, you will increase your chances of getting a nice new BM tree if you use that method.

I have two stains of Rond de Bourdeaux in my collection....one in the ground and one in a container. However, they are still too small for taking cuttings in trades.

dan,

i'll definitely give that a shot if my VdB survives the repotting and it's confirmed that it's from paradise nursery. as long as it survives and it's from paradise nursery, i'll be trading cutting for BM.

i know some cuttings are very hard to come by so whatever gets the best result, i'll give it a shot. but it will be a long shot way my repotting is going. i think i made some serious mistake by repotting last weekend. looking back at it, it was either repotting, or letting is getting rootbound. not sure which would have been worse. i think repotting was worse at this point.
