Looking for Col de Dame Blanc

Anyone have cuttings or air layer of Col de Dame Blanc for purchase please PM me. Thanks Mike

Search "col de dame", select the a topic, next see who posted a photo of their tree, then politely introduce yourself, the reason of the PM and hope they may consider an air layer. This is one of the hardest Fig trees to acquire, everyone wants this tree, even the for long time members.

Personally, the idea of me having one is a fantasy but truthfully, its too much to care for nor do I have the time, I did in the beginning... Because I thought I could grow anything. Nope. Not in Idaho! So I lost huge investments and damn near killed my cuttings (this is while I was taking care of it). Can you imagine if I owned a col de dame? I would be pissed.

The point is get a tree that's suits your climate. Because when you ask a member for a cutting or an air layer, chances are they would like reassurance that their "baby" is going to safe place. Anyway that's my input. This is a really really awesome fig tree.

Good luck

We live in a climate that pretty much can grow any of the major common figs aside from those that fruit mid-late Oct-Nov.  It is a crime that Georgia never developed any kind of real fig industry, really.  They grow and fruit with absolutely no intervention here, and the only real need is for pruning.

Actually, there is only two things for my kindly fellow to be aware of.  CdD is pretty late (but should make it in the nick of time, and warm falls will be successful), and the trees, like Mission, are naturally huge.  Not a fig for small home gardens.

@Jennifer thanks for your suggestion and input.

@shah by reading the post I have determined that those who  have this tree and their location, I am pretty sure it would do well here. I have the room and as you said, with the warm fall weather it should do fine. What area are you in?

Mike,i can help you with 3 cuttings of Col D Dame Blanc.Just remind me in november.    Marius

Marius, thank you for the offering. I will do that.

spring is best time to start rooting the cuttings, for me anyway. i think you still have time to order cuttings from UCD. most of CdDB, i think, is from there. of course, if you can fine one from outside of US that might be better. i think some members do have their original source from outside of US. all mine are from UCD.
