I am trying to find two Egyptian varieties as a gift for a friend's husband. I'd really like to have them for my own collection as well.Id prefer to trade for them but I'm willing to pay as well.I am curious why it seems difficult to find figs from Egypt as they certainly seem to grow plenty over there. Does anyone know why there aren't a bunch of easily available Egyptian figs?Thank you.mgg
In Egypt the figs are mainly grown on e north coast by the Mediterranean. There are only very few known varieties. Most of Egypt is a dry desert the only agriculture areas are along the Nile and northern Egypt. I got a couple varieties but too small to take cuttings.

Thx guys, I appreciate it.
Bass, what I don't get is Egypt is the number one producer of figs. So, where are the Egyptian fig trees. Are they only growing a few certain varieties? Anyway thanks again for my little surprise.mgg
I traveled to Egypt a few years ago, i saw a few fig trees poking over walled gardens of private homes and at a Nubian island farm on the Nile neer Luxor.I saw no fresh figs in the markets. We did have very good dried figs with breakfast often.AUSTIN
