Looking for fig cuttings.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this addiction lol I saw someone was giving away cutting on craigslist so I got some. I have no idea what kind they are. She even give me branches. One I put in the ground the other I put in water and let it sit outside. To my surprise there are leaves and a fig on it with no roots. I did get one of the clippings to root :) Im now on a quest for more. Thanks, in advance.

Welcome to the jungle!!!!
With time you may have your owe little jungle!!!

Thank you!

oh golly, another victim. You may find yourself surrounded by rooted cuttings and growing plants, thinking 'what am I going to do with all these?' Then like me you may turn into a fig 'advocate' and encourage others to plant figs instead of something else merely decorative. Do not worry, there are far worse preoccupations. Enjoy.

:) Thank you. My in laws have a lot of land in the country so its going to be full of figs ;) I looked at the branch in water and it has two more figs on it. I need to hurry up and get this thing to root.

If you have figs and no roots, the common wisdom is to knock the figs off.  The plant needs to get itself in a sustainable position (ie roots and then leaves); it doesn't need to try to give you a fig before it dies.  I know, it's like beating your children, but (unlike beating your children) it is necessary.

Thank you Andrew. It's so tempting to try at least one lol

Welcome!  Leaving the fig on a young cutting often kills it.  Large cuttings may fruit early once they grow a little but if there's no leaves or roots to feed the plant it can't sustain the energy output needed to produce a fig.  Look around and you'll find plenty of great tasting varieties to fill your orchard.

drivewayfarmer and fatnsassytexan still have auctions going on ebay. Buying cuttings from either of them would get you an excellent start.
Welcome.

It may be helpful to read some of the threads on here about rooting cuttings.
