Hey all,
Like the nature boys of a while back I too am willing to travel miles for a fresh fig tree. last year was my first year in california but I missed out on the good figs because I didn't know where or when to go find them or what to look for. I didn't know that on most varieties there are two crops, the breba and main. in fact last year was the first year I ever ate a fresh tree ripened fig, being from north dakota and minnesota, though I didn't get to eat very many. later I may be asking where there are available figs in other parts of california but does anybody know any locations in ventura county area- home growers who have excess or commercial growers who let people pick and pay or wild trees giving their fruit free? I wuold be willing to pay, though not the exorborant prices one finds at the markets, with figs of inferior quality .one thing is for certain- peopel with land, unlike myself, they need to plant trees. there aren't many good alibies for owning land and not planting fruit trees in that land, at least that's my opinion.
:)
