Looking for olive or nut tree cuttings 7A

Hello All,
I would like to try growing olives in Northern VA also pecans. Has anyone had success with either in this region? If so what varieties?
Thanks,

I seriously doubt olives would do well in Va. They thrive in arid, bright climates.

Yeah,
I was just hoping some variety would like the warmth and humidity of summer here and could transition into the house during cold months.

fyi -
I have never had any success rooting hardwood nut cuttings.
They are easy to grow from select seedlings or grafting scion.

Kevin,
I live in Afton, Va.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there aren't any olives that will work in Virginia.
I'd keep an eye on Edible Landscaping -- also here in Afton as they will most likely offer any olive tree that becomes available that has a chance of success here in the Old Dominion.
I sell figs (275 varieties) so please stop in if you are in the area.

I think Park Seed is offering an olive tree that would survive and produce fruit, at least in a pot, where you are.

I live outside Harrisburg Pa and I got an olive tree last year. It grew to about 5' in one year. It's in a container but I never brought it back inside over the winter and it's still in my back yard. It had zero dieback and it's starting to come out of dormancy. I doubt it will produce but it is possible to grow them. I have heard of some specialty farmers in Canada successfully grow olives but more than likely they are in a greenhouse

Nik40 what zone are you in? Sounds good if you were able to leave it out and no die back. What kind of soil ? 5 feet is a good growth

7B/6A right on the dividing line. I run 100% organic soils and use a natural root stimulators just to make the roots grow as fast as possible. It started as an 8" cutting and is now around 5'.

I can send you some olive cuttings, heavy bearer but don't know the variety.
