Looking to Buy JH Adriatic

JH Adriatic I am looking for has single and three lobed leaves, not five lobes and thumbs. I have plenty of these. Please PM me if you have one to let go.

Mike seeing as you are in the U.S. I wondered if you wouldn't mind me piggy backing onto this request but directed to members in Canada as I'm north of the border and would love this one too! :)

Not a problem Tyler

Mike,
To my knowledge (from reading archived posts), there is only one JH Adriatic the mother tree and figs are pictured in the attached post by JH himself in a Topic about Adriatic JH.  Good Luck

Great looking tree and guard, Pete and excellent comparison of 2 of the best light figs.

So if the real JH Adriatic has thumbs, what one are you looking for?  Want to post photos or a link?

Bob, my three trees have five lobes/fingers.

Nelson:Mostly single and three lobes leaves:You got adriatic JH.
UCD Adriatic has five lobes and 2 thumbs, the extra 2 thumbs showing only on healthy leaves.
As for the taste :Both are excellent tasting, but JH Adriatic become properly ripe much faster here in the North east.

Goss, have not received a PM

O.k. don't know what is going on with that but I think I have what you are looking for.  It was late last night when I seen this post and waited till this morning to check and I believe I have a couple and can let you have one if you want.  Try pming me if you can get through to me and I will send my phone # to you so we can share details.  My email I just discovered does not seem to be working all of a sudden either.

mike, if you don't get an offer, send me a PM in spring. i'll be trimming my JH Adriatic and there is one branch that might turn into 2 cuttings. no charge. this is one that jon sent out last yr with verified source.

Goss, PM sent

Pete, thank  you very much. I will certainly keep that offer in mind.

Mike,
It seems that the Adriatic JH can also produce 7 lobed leaves (2 thumbs) as seen in updated pictures of the original Adriatic JH fig tree, as posted by Joe H. Note 3rd Picture (base of tree)

<edit> I have no technical knowledge on the subject, but if they have shallow sinuses and are small, personally, I usually refer to them as "thumbs".

Pete, yes I saw your post on the other thread after Joe Hood made his post. Interesting.

Joe H,
Thanks for posting the pictures, commentary
and Also for putting a healthy, tasty and productive cultivar into circulation.
Hopefully I will be able to harvest a few next season.

BTW, the last picture Post #35 shows 5 lobed leaves with thumbs : )

It's a minor point, but now I'm curious.  In standard fig nomenclature, are the two "thumbs" on a leaf considered separate lobes?  When I have time, I'll have to dust off my old references (or fire up the hard drive;) ) and find out for sure.  At any rate, the JH Adriatic leaves range from entire (one leaf with no additional projections) to seven lobes (if you count the thumbs as separate lobes).

Mike, did you also see that Jon has some certified real JH Adriatic for sale?

Bob, I did. Thanks for reminding me. I have had several offers of cuttings and plants of the "certified" real
deal Joe Hood Adriatic.

Guys, I would not worry too much about the leaf pattern of figs.  We are blessed to have the mother tree and the owner on this forum.  That's just amazing to me!  It does look like Joe's tree does have 5 lobes and so does the Adriatic tree at UC Davis.  Both are excellent cultivars.  Don't think that the Adriatic tree at UC Davis is infested with FMV.  It is not.  Just search for my post here and you will see the leaves and figs.  Having eaten both fig strains, you just can't go wrong with either one.   You could pass out eating just one!

A young fig tree can have several different leaf patterns.  But again, I wouldn't stress over it.  Joe sends Jon cuttings every year.  I've purchased my trees from Jon and Tim.  Both came from Joe's mother tree.  And yes, my in the ground JHA has only one and 3 lobes but I know it truly came from Joe's mother tree.  Over time, I'm not going to care if the leaves develop 2, 3 or 4 thumbs!  Just keep giving me the same outstanding quality figs!!!!!

HOW BOUT THOSE FIGS!!!!!

JH Adriatic is an outstanding fig.  Getting from the right source is all that matters. Thanks to Joe for
sharing this awesome find.
