If any of you grow or has information on LSU 5 fig, please either share your information in this thread or send me an email. I am rooting few cuttings of this variant, and interested to know what color the fruit is.

Where? when? How?  did you get this??  I love my little LSU Purple!  This first season was fantastic - I wonder how other LSU figs will do here?  Hmmmm......

I have heard of LSU 5, but sorry I do not have the description.

Another LSU fig that I tried to root, and failed, was the LSU 156.
LSU 156: "large brownish yellow fruit with red flesh".

I only know of one source that has it. Unfortunately I have not seen any posting from
him for a long while.

Hello Navid! You're the only person I know (and me) seeking true factual data on LSU figs. In my second journey across the US this year, I will ask about LSU 5 and send my source information to you. I appreciate your quest for knowledge and look forward to positive results. Cheers!

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of LSU related varieties? Just when I think I've heard of them all another one pops up. I'm still trying to hunt down an LSU Jack Lilly (my daughter's name is Lillian) and the fig sounds really good. 

I've never heard of this one before either. I have quite a few LSU varieties too. An official or non official list would be helpful, Lets see LSU Gold, Tiger, Champaigne (Golden Celeste), Red, Yellow (Brandy), Black, Improved Celeste, O'Rourke, Thibodeau, Jack Lilly, to start and also numbered figs from LSU. It seems like the list might get pretty big

Just an update;

Was able to root only one of the cuttings (three), succefully. The young plant was up-potted last week. To insure better rooting, it was up potted deep, with only two nodes out the soil.

Also, have attached the photos of the main crop on LSU Red. It has put on a good number of main crop, but the tree (other trees as well) is/are growing rather slow at this point. Cool Spring and early Summer wehather has slowed the growth of the figs. Summer for my trees stated only few days ago, when the continues rains stopped and the temps has sarted to rise.

Last two photos taken from a friendly, tired young American Robin, taking rest on one of my figs. Or maybe it was trying to find the ripe one.

Nice plants you have there Navid. My rooting experience this year was poor as you know but hope next year I will do much better thanks to you.

I have question for you Navid: What is the white staff on the leaves? Is that fertilizer residue.

The white residues on the leaves are due, to the application of fungicide. I never folliar feed any of my trees. I also had a bad rooting year. Were too busy with work and other priorities than figs and cuttings.

Yes. I had forgotten to mention it. After exchanging several emails between my source of cuttings and the person who had shared them with my friend, I was told, "exterior color is Brown to dark Brown and the interior color is, golden- to light ambered. Has a semi short neck and closed eye. Resist spoilage during rain".

Sounds like another winner from LSU.

I heard there is a fig known as LSU Brown. Possibility the same as LSU #5
