LSU Champagne

Has anyone grown LSU's Champagne? It was one of the new 2007 releases along with O'Rourke and Tiger, but it may have been available as LSU Golden Celeste prior to that. If so, what are your experiences?

In post #3 of the following thread, I showed a pic of my
(bought as) Golden Celeste fig. It seems to be VERY,very
consistent with the LSU.GC -> Champagne [definition/renaming].

Hey, George. Yours looks just like the LSU release. What do you think of it?

As mentioned in my above (ref'd) thread, my LSU Improved Celeste (O'Rouke_NOT),
tasted much, much better than the Champagne, and so far I
was not impressed by it.

However it [the Champange],  has a very long neck making it droop
(and I think, a closed eye), which is a big plus for
moist/rainy regions. More time is needed by me to to sure.

Thanks, George. I saw that you liked the Improved Celeste (O'Rourke_NOT) better, but I wasn't sure what you thought of it overall.

My 2 plus year old LSU Golden Celeste is highly productive. Virtually figs on every node. I have not managed to sample any of its figs in my zone but this coming season, I am sure I will get the chance. Gorgi is right that it has a long neck.

Hello fig friends-- interested to find out whether anyone experienced LSU Champagne(aka Golden Celeste) dropping its figs in warmer zones than mine in British Columbia, Canada. My tree is currently loaded with breba figs outside & this spring weather have so far been cool with no frosty nights/mornings yet. In the past its breba figs have tendency to drop all its figs & I think it is mainly due to the cold frosty nights/mornings. I am determine this season to keep this variant protected from cold nights & mornings if others in warmer zones experienced few breba figs dropping. Thanks for any feed backs.

Are LSU Champagne and LSU Golden Celeste the same fig? According to this post http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=5395990 by Dan, apparently there are three strains of LSU Golden Celeste. In that case, is the amber pulp the same as LSU Champagne?

I ask because I recently purchased an LSU Champagne that had two tags. One read Golden Celeste and the other LSU Champagne.
