LSU Purp

Cooked a brisket yesterday and invited over the family. My Dad's second year LSU Purp is starting to spit them out pretty quick now. He's still figuring out when to pick them so a few were not quite there yet but 3 of them were perfect!

Beautiful :)

How is the taste? I have young trees so i can't wait til mine start giving me some to taste. In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through what you guys post. Thanks for sharing and giving me something to look forward too.

It's kinda hard to explain the taste, just tastes like a sweet fig......but yummy:) LSU Purp doesn't really seem to have any of the berry or melon notes a lot of other figs have. At least not yet! It's only a 2 year old tree and should get better with age.

My 2 year old LSU Purple has green figs, here in NE Georgia. But they are getting there slowly but surely. Branches growing, too.

Rob, that's fantastic! My LSU Purple (from you) is putting on some nice growth now.
Any Atreanos yet?
I'm looking forward to reading many posts by you, reporting on the flavors of the great varieties you've been acquiring.

Rui my friend;) glad to hear it's growing for you! This is what you should have when you let it fruit. No atreano figs yet. They are still to small to let them do there thing yet. I've given most of them away. All the cuttings of Atreano rooted so I kept 2 for my self. I'm just about done collecting. A couple more and I'm calling it quits. The wife is about to kick me out!!!! She said no more figs!!!!.....but I can now get a couple Mangos and Dragon Fruit;)

Those look great.
