LSU Red 2012

One of the superb tasting figs out there. Even though that they were picked early (due to birds), its fruit's taste, surpassed the Smith fig which is also a excellent tasting fig. A 10+/10 cultivator.

Navid,

Thanks for posting,
The fruit looks good and the leaves look beautiful.

Beautiful figs. I never heard of LSU Red before. Dennis rated Smith at the very top of his rating scale.

Navid, do you know where to get the LSU red cuttings or plant?

Thanks for sharing another great fig in your collection!

Navid, is that Felco #7 pruners? Been using those for about 40 years (woops)

nice~ looks great. will believe you as to its taste

Navid!  That is one awesome looking fig you got there!  Keep up the good work!  Thanks for posting!

cheers!

Bravo to LSU and to those who were kind to ensure this variant does not disappear the way dinosaurs did. Any more new LSU variants.

Navid, Glad you are able to enjoy this quality variant. With all this good news on variant performance, I am down sizing to collect only the best. Thanks for posting the pic's.

I'm interested in a source of this fig too.  Any LSU variety must do well here in hot, humid, rainy Houston.

Nice fig Navid 10+/10 is remarkably result for this cultivar. This is first time i have heard for this fig.

Congratulations!

Navid
I haven't heard of this variant either. Was it hard to obtain this variety? If not do you know were I could potentially find it?
Thank you for sharing. I would love to hear more about it.

Looks great Navid. Can't wait for next season. I kept plucking the fruit off mine. How was the taste?

Just imagine how yummie if it had ripen in mid Sept. How old is your plant Navid.

Hey Navid ,

Is this tree very late in ripening it's fruit , or is it a young plant that just ripened for the first time ?

Thanks .... John

Paul, my plant is almost 3 yrs old.

John, No, it's not a late cultivator. It's a mid-season fig, its main crop begins to ripen by mid-late Aug.
It was late this year due to my mistake of up-potting it in late June. Even with keeping it in a semi-shaded area for over a week, it dropped all of its fruits. This plant began to set a new crop of fruit, again, during the last week of Aug. I was able to get them ripe by mid-Oct.

Navid.

Thanks Navid ,

Considering your experience , I will be putting it on my wish list .

John

Looks Great Navid,

Thanks
Vinny

Another great variant from LSU -- productive too.

Navid, that is a great looking fig. Looks like it can just melt in your mouth! And, the leaves look beautiful too. If you decide to sell cuttings, i would be in line for a couple.
Thanks for posting!
Meg

He does sell them. In fact they are in ebay right now.

Thanks, Brianm. What name is it under?

Here is the item number 331726719773

Thanks, Brianm.

Some photos of its main crop. A 10/10 variant in production, taste and its ability not to split with heavy rains or etc.
