Lsu tiger pic

Tiger starting to get stripes. Leaves are mostly single lobed some three. Not ready to pic yet

I have a three-year-old 8 foot tall LSU tiger in a pot that has the biggest leaves of all my trees most three lobed leaves. The tree also produces a large amount of beautiful figs.

Please post photos of your figs and leaves when you can.
It really helps to identify these varieties.

This is my tree in the beginning of June,it is now Loaded with figs .the tree behind in the background is a very cool,Raspberry Latte, to The leaves stems are red and the figs themselves are red, ugly shaped almost deformed. They tell me that's the way they should be.

Thats it. big single lobes. Some 3 lobe . Funny shape figs

Tiger looks like no other tree with it's large single lobe leaves and its unusual growth habits. Mine at least has a spreading goblet like shape. I should say "had",as it was attacked by shot hole borers this past spring, and I had to cut it back to a stump. It is regrowing, but not enough for figs this year. I really like the taste of these figs, like getting a supersized celeste. Unfortunately, they split badly if there is too much rain near ripening time.Last year they looked as if someone had put firecrackers in the eyes and they didn't split, they exploded.

Is LSU tiger same fig as Mega Celeste?

tiger lsu.jpg  Here is a pic of my LSU Tiger taken a few days ago

I've read somewhere that Mega Celeste is actually a California fig--not an LSU fig.

I will definitely keep this one on my wish list.I have five cuttings working but only one has barely sprouted. There is not much hope for the other four. I think i need a well established plant.

Does this make brebas for anyone? I have an unk that look similar, it makes a few brebas.

They look like giant Celestes. Is flavor similar?  thanks for pics, Brian

Hello Rick, yes its the same fig,LSU changed the name in 2007 to eliminate some confusion and to rid the name of Celeste.......

The leaves of my Calderwood sure do resemble LSU Tiger.  I don't have any figs yet to compare, maybe later, the prefigs are there.

What does LSU Tiger taste like?

Thanks

If you look at were the stem connects to the leaf. Tiger has a big heart shape. Were as other similar leaves may not gave such a big dip.
