Lyndhurst White

This is my first year growing figs and I am having a blast, I love the excitement of picking a fig from a variety that I haven't yet tried and waiting to see what it looks like when I cut it open and how it tastes.

I have a few Lyndhurst Whites ripening.  They are some nice, big, green figs.  This one tasted pretty good, sweet with some crunch and a little bit of fig flavor.  The skin was a little tough though.

I have read about this fig a lot with northern growers, but I think this fig is great for the southeast because when it first started to swell, we were getting tons of rain, but this guy has a super tight eye.

Looks good, congrats!

I believe that Lynhurst White and Latarolla are the same fig. Anyone else have the same opinion? My Latarolla showed absolutely no signs of FMV.

I believe they are the same, too. I've had them both for only about three years, but they taste the same, they look the same, they have very similar leaves and even ripen for me near the same time. I always had this suspicion. I am glad I'm not the only one that thinks this .

Its nice your enjoying your first year growing figs Mike, things will only get better as you add new varieties and your plants age.

I had a Conadria and Latarolla growing side by side and they really looked like the same fig to me. I lost Conadria but still have Latarolla, very vigorous, but only a few figs now that it's in the ground, and they still haven't ripened. I agree, the picture of the LW looks like those figs.

My Latarolla was very productive and the figs were large and the eye, one of the smallest I have ever seen on a green fig. I tried everything to elevate the taste of this fig. It just did not meet my expectation. Atreano is a better flavored fig but it has to ripen completely to be at it's best. I finally gave up on Latarolla. White Triana outperformed Atreano and Latarolla hands down. It has since become one of my best white figs.
