Macool 7-22-14

I waited and waited and waited finally just had to pick this guy. Man was it a good one. Although it is a small fig it is packed full of sweet, berry, jammy goodness. It had dropped some figs before but this one hung on for me. This is updated on 8-11-14. It did not become watered down or split with the heavy rains. It resides in a fifteen gallon pot but will be moved to in ground next spring. I am giving this first one this season a 9+ and its only going to get better.

Very nice Mike. looks like a winner to me.

Thanks, Mike, makes me hope for fruit from mine soon!

Naah, you let that one go long enough.  Good for you!  Glad you liked it.

Lucky you, Mike!

Bob, I like to let them ripen until they are to slippery to hold in your hand.

I cant wait!  My young Macool is a strong grower and I expect to get figs from it next year.

Greg, if you can remember (I want) let me know if it drops figs.

:o   Looks great, it's always nice when it all comes together as planned.

Looks like a good one Mike.

Mike is off an running again strong in the 2014 season. Love this time of year on the forum yourself, JD, others showing great figs post after post.

Thanks Mike,  Another one to add to the list

Ok, so the bus didn't quite stop completely.

Nice looking fig, Mike.

So I will start working on that ASAP Rafed

Mike,

I should have kept my mouth shut. In this case, tape my fingers together. LOL
This is not what I was referring to. But thanks.

I will send something your way too.

Rafed, you have already sent me many, many etc........

Not enough.
I have many more to share with you and my friends.

Thank you

Mike, I assume this is main crop, correct?  This must be a relatively early fig then.  My Macool (now in a 5 gallon SIP) has a few figs on but I don't expect they will be ripe for a few weeks.  It has been among my slower growing varieties and exhibits some (though not severe) fmv/fmd symptoms.  Anyway, it's good to see that growing this one is worth it.

Hi Steve, yes these are main crop. Either there was one breba and it fell off early or there were none. Can't remember and I didn't make a note. It is
an early fig here. It also grows slow for me and has a little sign of fmv.

Nice fig, Mike.  And such good advice to wait until fully, completely, unquestionably ripe.

Mike
